Winter Storm Fern is gearing up to make a cross-country trek late this week and into the weekend, bringing winter weather impacts to over half of the country's population.

Many people looking to leave Austin, or come in for the weekend, had to change their plans.

The NWS is expecting up to half an inch of ice, and "dangerously cold" temperatures are expected Saturday through Monday morning, January 26.
