As a powerful Arctic front moves into Texas, winter weather is expected to stretch beyond Houston, with different parts of the state facing snow, sleet or freezing rain over the weekend.
As of 5:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 26, nearly 13,000 people were without power as the storm moved through Oncor's service territory, the agency's outage map shows. Oncor's service area includes the majority of North Texas and parts of West Texas.
Forecasts predicting significant wintry precipitation over the weekend were fairly accurate.. Temperatures dropped below freezing at 5 a.m. Saturday morning, and stayed there until Monday afternoon — marking 58 hours continuously below freezing.
