The new Chevy Bolt EV just went into production at GM’s Fairfax plant in Kansas in November, but it won’t be built there for long. Once Bolt production ends, like in 2027, GM said only internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles will be made at the facility.
The outcry from Bolt fans was loud and vociferous, and in July 2025 GM CEO Mary Barra announced that i t would be coming back, with a new Ultium-based battery pack. But only in the Bolt EUV body style—if you prefer the original hatchback, you’re out of luck.
