CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Controversy is swirling in curling at the Winter Olympics. The Canadian men's and women's teams, as well as the British men's team, have been accused of the same infraction: double-touching the curling stone after it is released.

Team USA women’s curling secured a major win on Thursday, when they beat Switzerland 7-6. Their remarkable run in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games has been filled with impressive moments, including their first-ever win against Canada in an Olympic competition.

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — The curling drama at the Winter Olympics sent the sport’s governing body scrambling to address a growing controversy and curb conflicting accounts of rule-breaking. The backpedaling came less than 24 hours later.

A brewing controversy is arising in the Olympic curling competition, involving accusations of cheating, denials involving F-bombs and an international governing body having to explain why it effectively relies on the honor system at times.

After snapping a 24-year drought, Team USA women’s curling is one step away from making Winter Olympics history.

Luca Eze, who plays the bagpipes, says he started his career on the zampogna, a type of instrument common in central and southern Italy. In the Veneto region, it’s sometimes called a “piva,” and is played on Christmas and during other festivities.
