2017 solar eclipse: We ended up on a levee in Southern IL overlooking a farm field - flat as a pancake, and had it all to ourselves. Close to 90° in the mid day sun, with clouds building all over. We were super worried we'd get clouded out, but not once did a single cloud end up blocking the sun at our location. As you watch the timelapse you can see the clouds around the sun dissipate a bit as totality gets closer. However, the horizon was roiling with build ups, and there were rocking thunders
