Have you tried the texture toolpath in VCarve? I love it. On a sign like this, raised letters with lots of background real estate, texturing the background is a great cheat. Because then I don’t have to sand it. 🙃 I’m using a 1/4” ball nose. I commonly use a ball nose or V-bit for this. Mess with the settings and preview your toolpath until you like it. There are a gazillion options. You can change the length, depth and angle of the cuts. The final appearance is random, giving it a hand carved
